As a gym, we have once again been well represented by some of our quality members at another local event.
Today’s Great Pyramid Race in Gordonvale showcased the core values of TENACITY WORX.
At our gym, we don’t train to enter competitions at a level that we can win just so we can say we won. We train hard and we enter events that are going to push us to new limits. This is what happened in the recent Torture In The Tropics crossfit competition, and this is what happened today at the Great Pyramid Race.
Today we are proud to say that we were represented by two of our quality members, each putting their doubts and fears aside and doing something for the first time.
Rachael ran her first 5km race, and she made a stellar effort. As Rachael’s personal trainer, I had the honour of pacing her for this race. What she accomplished on that course was truly incredible. We were not quite at the ½ way mark when Rachael decided she needed to walk. I told her she had to keep going, rest at the ½ way mark and not before. So that is what happened. Now, this might not seem to be marvelous, but I’m telling you that for sure it is. Rachael has just learned a valuable lesson here…. She can do more than she thinks!! Rachael, this is by no means a small achievement, rather, it is another step on your journey that will give you confidence & strength when times get tough…as we all know they do from time to time.
Rachael went into this race with only “General Physical Preparedness”, having not been able to train specifically for the race due to a bout of cold & flu recently visiting her home. She missed her goal time by only a couple of minutes, but what she achieved in the process is truly incredible. Congratulations Rach!
The other highlight of the day was the sheer grit and determination that is the essence of TENACITY. Leanne, or Rich for short, participated in the Great Pyramid Race for the first time. Now, just incase we have people reading this that have never climbed that thing, it is tough! Now, Rich is a fit & strong woman. She is also determined and today demonstrated a mental toughness that is hard to find.
Having arrived at the ½ way point right on cut-off time, she was given the option to return….a couple of minutes later & she wouldn’t have been given the choice… a couple of minutes earlier, and, again, she wouldn’t have been given the choice. Now imagine, you’ve just run 3k’s to get to that mountain, then busted your butt to get ½ way up, you’re out of breath, your body is screaming at you…. What would you do?
Well, Rich kept going. And her reasoning? We don’t quit.
Rich, you too, learned that you can do more than you thought. Who you really are is who you are when no-one’s looking. You made a choice today that was tough, and you made it amidst physical, mental and emotional fatigue. You could have taken the easy way and no one would have known, but you didn’t! Congratulations!

Ladies, we are so proud of the pair of you, and as one of our little cheerleaders pointed out today, you showed TENACITY!
Well done!
